この夏、新潟で、日中韓の舞踊団による「新潟インターナショナルダンスフェスティバル」を開催！
それぞれの国で、同時代の作品創造を行う初のプロフェッショナルカンパニーとして創設された３団体が、りゅーとぴあに集います。
韓国からは大邱市立舞踊団（DCMDC）、中国からは城市当代舞踊団（CCDC）がいずれも初来日。
日本からはNoismの新たなプロジェクトカンパニーNoism0（ノイズムゼロ）が発足し、新作を含む4演目の上演と、日中韓各舞踊団を率いる芸術監督3名による文化鼎談を行います。

『Moon-Looking Dog』は、1999年ソウル国際舞踊祭で初演したホン・スンヨプの代表作のひとつ。彼はこの作品により国際的に知られることとなった。彼の作品のテーマは常に「自我の探求」である。本作は3つの場面に分かれ、抽象的なイメージがリズミカルに展開される。その独特かつ滑稽な動きは、たとえば犬のように人間ではない視点から見た現代人を感覚的に描いている。
新作『I Saw the Elephant』は、『Moon-Looking Dog』と同じく「自我の探求」がテーマであるが、その表現スタイルや動きの構成は極めて異なる。ホンが大邱市立舞踊団芸術監督に就任後、初の振付となる本作は、彼にとっての大きな挑戦であり、最も進化した純粋な動きの結晶体である。今回の新潟公演では、第2部を中心に新たな作品として再構築される。

大邱市立舞踊団
韓国で初めての公立現代舞踊団として、1981年設立。毎年2回の定期公演のほか、韓国内のみならずアジア、ヨーロッパなどの海外公演も行い、活発な活動を続けている。14年11月、6代目の芸術監督として、振付家ホン・スンヨプを迎え、45名の団員と共に、レベルの高いダンスで韓国の現代舞踊の発展に寄与している。

ホン・スンヨプ Sung Yop Hong　
1982年、慶熙大学繊維工学学科在学中にモダンダンスを始める。93年に韓国初のプロ舞踊団“Dance Theater On”を設立し、韓国の現代舞踊界に新たな展望を切り開いた。99年ソウル国際舞踊祭・振付賞、01年韓仏文化賞を受賞。03年、05年のベストモダンダンサー（東亜日報）に選ばれる。10-13年韓国国立現代舞踊団の初代芸術監督を歴任。

Premiered at Seoul International Dance Festival in 1999, Moon-Looking Dog is one of Sung Yop Hong’s representative works which earned the choreographer his international fame.
With the exploration of the self as the main theme like in all of his other works, Moon-Looking Dog has three parts in which abstract images rhythmically unfold. His choreography with unique, often very humorous, movements depicts aspects of the modern man from the point of view of a creature other than human, like a dog.
Sharing the common theme (exploration of the self) with Moon-Looking Dog, Hong’s latest piece I Saw the Elephant, however, is very distinct in its style of expression and construction of the movements. The first piece since he became the artistic director of the DCMDC, I Saw the Elephant has been a big challenge for the choreographer to crystallize his most evolved, pure movements in it. For our festival in Niigata this time, Hong is going to reconstruct it, especially the second part of it, as a new piece.

Daegu City Modern Dance Company (DCMDC)
The first public contemporary dance company in South Korea, the Daegu City Modern Dance Company(DCMDC) was established in 1981. It produces two new creations every year, and tours around the country as well as the other countries in Asia and Europe. In November 2014, Sung Yop Hong became its sixth artistic director. With its 45 members and high-quality works, the company has been significantly contributing to the development of the contemporary dance scenes in South Korea.

Sung Yop Hong
Artistic Director and Choreographer of the Daegu City Modern Dance Company. Began learning modern dance in 1982 while studying fabric engineering at Kyung Hee University. In 1993 Hong established South Korea’s first professional dance company called Dance Theater On, and opened a new perspective in the contemporary dance scene in the country. He won the Choreography Award at the Seoul International Dance Festival in 1999, the Korea France Culture Award in 2001, and was selected the Best Modern Dancer by the East Asia Daily newspaper in 2003 and 05. Hong was the first artistic director of the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company from 2010 to 13.
